In Spring of 2013, we inoculated a whole mess of logs with edible and medicinal fungi. We let the logs sit for the first year and then the Spring of 2014 we dug holes about a foot deep and stood the logs up with the ends in the soil so they could wick up water and fruit naturally. The logs we selected for inoculation were all 6″ diameter or bigger so we haven’t seen much fruiting yet. We are hoping to see fruiting soon, lol. Here in Missouri there are also lots of wild foragable mushrooms in abundance. Morels, Bearded Tooth, Oysters, Hen of the Woods, Reishi and so many more. We love foraging and growing our own.
